Ah, the spinosaurus corpse... an amazing option. If you dont mind me asking, what's your plans on resurrection method? Ah, a frostfallen. I see I am not dealing with a novice... well that will be 11k for the body, 1k for the onyx gems, 4k for the frostfallen gems, and 3k for a decanter of endless water. 19k in total. Yes sir, this is a popular choice for elite necromancers for yourself, easily the Lamborghini of necromancers who shop here, 36 strength, 19 charisma, 15 Dex, 3 natural attacks, gargantuan... a terror.
Oh, you want something a bit cheaper with comparable stats... well it wont be as good but you can necrocraft a custom rig. Here is mine:
I bought 25 large cows for 250 gp, killed and animated and pinned them for 3750, stitched them together and necro crafted a gargantuan cow zombie for another 700 for a total of 4.7k. 34 strength, 9 DeX, 13 charisma. With 5CP I gave it 3 extra claws (total of 5) rend and flying.
I mean, you can definitely go for a colossal corpse but I couldn't afford it at the time. You would still not be close to the cost of the spinosaurus.
The frostfallen and bloodyskeletons are really only worth it with exotic corpses sir. Dragons and the like... but of course for looks and in the wild and without time it's best to just go with the times but I always reccomend to friends to save money with Necrocraft.

Every FC game I’ve played up till now I always liked the bows as they give one shot kills to most enemies except heavies, you can retrieve the arrows and found them perfect for stealthy checkpoint kills from afar. Now in Far Cry 6 they only seem to be one shot kill if you get a headshot. Am I missing something or need to be wearing a certain item for this to still work?

2021.10.18 19:03 ZedisDoge Tiebreaker Rules are another letdown of the Worlds format.

Given that GROUP D now has a 4-way tie, there are 3 games played, with seeding based on total win time. I believe this causes some issues, as one side of the bracket could be stronger than the other, meaning one side could have had the two best teams in the group. But one of them will be instantly eliminated.
I believe in this case there should be an upper and lower bracket. With this in mind, while there are more games, there's atleast more integrity and we will know for certain that the two teams who advance are the best.
I am proposing the same first two games to go through, then have an upper bracket final which determines first seed. The losers of those first two games play in a do-or-die elimination game and the winner of that would face the loser of the 1st seed tiebreaker to get second seed.

What makes magic items fun and interesting game mechanics? Essentially, they are rewards for accruing gold or dungeon delving that offer new ways to play your character, ways you may not have planned for.
 
I find that there is a weird meta-gamey aspect about magic items. The more DnD you play, the more magic items you become familiar with. You might even start to create builds that rely on certain magic items to be effective.
 
I don’t think there is any big problem with planning a build around a specific item if you discuss it with your DM. If a player is excited about doing something, I normally try to lean into it. Them working with me to create character builds that include magic items allows me to layer them throughout the campaign at cool moments just like I would do with their backstories.
 
But what about when the players find something that they never expected? A magic item with properties both ineffable and incredible. The process to identify it is either a headache or a non-issue, but neither is particularly satisfying.
 
Let’s look at ways you can identify magic items using the rules as written in the Dungeon Master’s Guide (pg 136):
 

 
That’s it. The book also suggests that the DM can give hints about an items properties as they are experimented with. Stuff like a command word ethed into a ring, a feathered design to suggest feather fvvcvall, or saying “the boots feel springy and stridey” if they are booths of springing and striding.
 
The book offers a more difficult variant to item identification as well where you can remove the ability to identify items over a short rest. Instead they require the use of the identify spell, experimentation, or both. Honestly, both options feel really unthematic. If a magic item can be identified in ten minutes, what’s the point of even obfuscating what it is? You might as well have them feel a surge of power, immediately understanding what the item is as soon as they touch it.
 
The only exception to this is if you wanted to use the identify spell to see if a a magic item is cursed. Seems like a good use of the spell, right? Except that page 139 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide states that the identify spell doesn’t reveal whether an item is cursed of not. So in the end, it’s pretty useless. I could really get in the weeds here as curses are there own can of worms, so I’m going to tackle them in their own video.
 
By the way - tasting potions is also strange. There’s seriously no penalty for tasting something that could potentially be poison? Even Charlie and Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka suffered the consequences of tasting something they didn’t understand the properties of. If you guzzle a fizzy lifting drink in my dungeon, you’re going right into the ceiling fan.
 
Also, when I think about the more difficult variant that requires identify, it calls to mind very video gamey systems like Divinity: Original Sin, Diablo, and Guild Wars, where identifying magic items required special items to identify. In fact, the item’s properties weren’t even generated until they were identified. More powerful identification tools could result in more powerful items.
 
In my mind, you can approach magic items in DND like a video game or like a novel.  
Either showering your PCs in items like the former, or putting a lot of emphasis on them like the latter. One thing you’ll often hear is that DnD 5e was built to be a game where characters have few magic items, with systems like attunement slots there to reinforce that. The classes are balanced to not need magic items to be effective, or at least have them doled out slowly. For instance, the game expects that you’ll have a +1 magic weapon by level 5.
 
It’s not like you’re wrong if you want to shower your players in magic items that they can immediately use or put on the bench of holding, but since the design of D&D and it’s thematic inspirations are low in magic items, I want to emphasize what makes magic items cool.
 
Let’s look at how Lord of the Rings handled identifying magic items.
 
Sting: Sting is a +1 shortsword with the hidden property that it glows around its favored enemy: orcs.
 
In Lord of the Rings, the item is gifted to Frodo from his cousin Bilbo, who tells him of its magical properties. Bilbo, however, looted it from a troll cave, much like how your players will find items.
 
"These look like good blades," said the wizard, half drawing them and looking at them curiously. "They were not made by any troll, nor by any smith among men in these parts and days; but when we can read the runes on them, we shall know more about them."
 
Essentially, the DM allowed The wizard Gandalf to make an arcana check to get a read on the weapons. He got a hint as to their make, but not their properties. It required going to the house of Elrond to get the full picture:
 
Elrond knew all about runes of every kind. That day he looked at the swords they had brought from the trolls' lair, and he said: "These are not troll-make. They are old swords, very old swords of the High Elves of the West, my kin. They were made in Gondolin for the Goblin-wars. They must have come from a dragon's hoard or goblin plunder, for dragons and goblins destroyed that city many ages ago. This, Thorin, the runes name Orcrist, the Goblin-cleaver in the ancient tongue of Gondolin; it was a famous blade. This, Gandalf, was Glamdring, Foe-hammer that the king of Gondolin once wore. Keep them well!"
 
That’s pretty thematic. But notice that Bilbo’s blade was not identified specifically. This provides an opportunity later for Bilbo to discover the properties first-hand and name the blade himself. He calls it “Sting” after it helped free him from deadly spiders. Basically, what I’m saying is there are way too many “+1 longswords” in your players’ inventory. If it doesn’t have a name that can be garnered through identification, it should earn its name through deeds and your player’s creativity. Encourage your players to find names for their magic items. Personally, I’d much rather wield Glamdring the Foe Hammer than a +2 greatsword vs goblins.
 
Now what about the One Ring, undoubtedly the most cursed object in Middle Earth, and it’s in the hands of the party.
 
Originally, no one knows the importance of this ring, merely that after experimenting with it and trying it on, the properties are revealed that it turns the wearer invisible.
 
It’s only years later after seeing his friend not again that Gandalf begins to suspect something foul. He then goes to do research in the bowels of Minas Tirith to discover the records behind the Ring - and identifies its cursed nature.
 
I think both of these examples provide direction for how to identify magic items in ways that feel both thematic and interesting.
 
We should break down magic items into property categories:  
 
I would let your players know that an item has to be attuned after they spend some time with it. Just say “this item requires a closer bond with the character in order to unlock more of its secrets.”
 
Some magic items may begin and end at the first two categories - the properties being easy enough to understand through simple trial and error over the course of an hour long short rest. Some may appear only hold these easily-perceived properties, but secretly have other attributes. The One Ring is an example of one such item.
 
This means then that not all properties will be revealed via the identify spell now. I would tell your players about this nerf before they choose to take the spell, though honestly with this design, the spell is more useful than rules as written. The spell now immediately identifies property categories 1 and 2, and maybe gets a sense of category 3 depending on you, the DM.
 
They might get a wiff of evil magic or understand that there are hidden properties on the item that have yet to be unlocked. This still gives your players important, usable information without killing all challenge and mystique behind the magical item.
 
In order to get a better sense of what the magic item’s properties are, they may need to take it to an expert on this specific item (not just some high level wizard in a tower). If it’s an item of dwarven make, take it to the dwarves. They may also do some research as a downtime activity to try and discover the properties themselves. Set the DC based on their intelligence modifier and the likelihood the place they are researching has information about the specific magic item.
 
The final category are magic items that only show their true colors under specific circumstances. This could be a bow that shoots invisible arrows during moonless nights, or a shield with a face that smiles and grows stronger when it protects the innocent. These hidden properties could be discovered through research, but if they happen naturally, I’d encourage you as the DM to unlock them for your players and reveal the mechanical details.
